What we collect
When you complete an enquiry or assessment form on this site, we collect the information you provide, which may include: your name, email address, telephone number, country of residence, nationality, tax residency status, the location and approximate price of the property you are considering, how you are paid, and any additional notes you choose to give us.
We also collect standard technical information automatically, including your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, through cookies and analytics tools. See our Cookie Policy.
Why we collect it and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry and assess whether we can help — on the basis of taking steps at your request prior to entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- To provide credit intermediation services, where you go on to instruct us — performance of a contract, and compliance with our legal obligations.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including record-keeping and anti-money-laundering requirements — legal obligation.
- To send you updates, where you have asked us to — consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
Sensitive information
If you proceed with an application we will handle detailed financial information about you, and may handle health information where life insurance is required as a condition of a mortgage. We collect this only where it is necessary, and we tell you why at the time.
Who we share it with
We share your information with lenders and insurers where that is necessary to progress an application you have asked us to pursue, and with our professional advisers and service providers (including our website host and CRM provider) who process data on our behalf under contract. We do not sell your data and we do not share it for third-party marketing.
International transfers
Some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, transfers are made under appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not proceed are retained for up to two years. Where we act for you, records are retained for the period required by Portuguese financial and tax legislation, which is generally longer.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on it. To exercise any of these, email us at jaysinanderson@elevateaccounting.pt or write to us at the address above.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your data, you may complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), at cnpd.pt.
